1:02AM - Follow up

Dispite some heavy drama heaped on me. I believe the issue between myself and cureineko has been for the most part "resolved"

I'm getting a refund, she's moving on with her life, I'm moving on with mine.

I really did hate having to post about her here as she truely is a nice person and didn't deserve alot of the "flack" she got from a few individuals on the last posting (myself included)

If it's possible I would like to erase the previous journal about it and move on. Is that allowed?

10:16PM - Redline Anyone?

Hello! I'm currently working on a hyena fursuit head, and although I like how it looks, I was just curious if anyone could find any flaws for me?

http://s250.photobucket.com/albums/gg261/jpupbob/?action=view&current=Yenaheadbase1.jpg&newest=1
http://s250.photobucket.com/albums/gg261/jpupbob/?action=view&current=Yenaheadbase2.jpg&newest=1

Now, I know the eyes are a slight bit lopsided, but that because they are only sitting right on the foam. It doesn't have a nose yet, and I think the jaw is a little lopsided, but im alright with that.
Anything you see wrong? What do you like about it? Any information will be useful.
Thank you :)

10:26PM - Quad question

I'm currently making an Ifrit quad suit commissioned by a friend of mine and i had a few questions. Since we are trying to minimize the cost and the uncomfortable heat that using multiple foam layers would cause, I was thinking of ways to make this all work. When I went to sit down on my beanbag, and idea struck. Has anyone ever made a suit with a beanbag like build? Like one layer of foam on the under shirt and an air pocket filled with the little styrofoam beans covered by another layer overtop holding it all in? I don't have any clue if it will work but I thought that I'd ask.

I also would like to ask, would fleece or felt be better for a fur subsitute? Ifrit doesn't have very long fur on his body aside from his head and fur can be very expensive when you can only find good quality fur on rare occasions...

If anyone has any sugestions or tips I'd love to hear please! I've never done a quad before but what I learn from making this one will be used on my 2011 project! Sesshomaru in his demon dog form!

3:52PM - Blacklight and Whisker test video

So, I was going to keep this A Secret® 'til I debuted her at FC, but I think these fiber optic whiskers are too cool not to share. I know it's probably been done before, but installing them was a first for me ^_^. And I absolutely adore how they came out. I also wanted to see how bright the white fur was under blacklight.

1:29PM

Hello everyone,

I recently lost my job and am in desperate need of cash to keep from drowning in debt, so I am opening up icon commissions. These are done in a simple graphic style, so I am offering them starting at $5. Characters with a lot of minute detail (like the Mirrii or Estela icon with all the armor) are $7.

You can find more of my art here: tigrin.deviantart.com

If you are interested, you can either reply here or e-mail me at krystinahaggerty(at)gmail.com. I can accept Paypal, check, money order, and concealed cash. Since I've been ripped off before, I need to have the full payment up front before I start; should I not complete the commission for whatever reason, I will refund the money.

11:33AM - Better funfoam

Sounds stupid, probably is. But this irks me.

I'm trying to use a bit of funfoam on a suit head. The inside of the ears. Slow process, won't do any major work on it until after FC. But the problem still can be looked at as it'll give me time. The funfoam I've found at Micheal's, Jo-Ann's, Wal*Mart, and K-Mart all have the same issue. They have foot-prints on them, torn in corners, holes in the middle, and trashed. I thought about buying the foam in a pack, but as I only need two sheets ($1 total for the two) it seems stupid to spend $5 or more on a pack of sheets I'm not going to need. And most of the time you get one sheet of each color, rather than one pack of one color. I haven't found one pack of one color.

Is there another store to buy funfoam at? Good foam, that isn't trashed beyond salvaging? I don't have a Hobby Lobby in my state, I'm afraid, or I'd look there. The main problem is that the stores listed above are public "everything" stores, and not serious crafting stores. So kids go in there, rip it up, play with it, and leave it on the floor and no one cares. Is there any place better?

4:53PM - Defining "Teeny"

I've been waffling on whether or not to bring this up. I usually operate on a "Not Broke Don't Fix It" methodology when it comes to running this place. However, I've finally decided to do a preliminary poll on the matter just to gauge the community feeling on the matter.

As Teenycom ages, both the art market and the overall economy evolve. By way of example, when teenycom was first founded the American dollar was much stronger against the Euro. An argument could be made that a $10 limit may be unfairly hard on European artists.

I'm prepared to entertain the idea of periodically adjusting the limit if it's deemed necessary by the community. If the majority of people think this might be an option I will then later conduct a second poll regarding precisely how much we want to adjust the maximum limit.

Read: Right now I only want to know if you personally believe we should EVER consider raising the maximum price and not even necessarily if you feel we should do so right this minute. We will handle that question later.

Please feel free to discuss the issue in comments with questions you might have, pro and con arguments, or suggestions of how you think a Teeny Commission should be defined for the year 2010. Please remember to do so in a courteous manner. This IS the one warning. I realize this is a big community and lots of people feel very strongly about certain issues, but that's no reason for me to be getting F-Bombs dropped in my inbox this time around.

Without Further Ado:

Poll #1504350
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 125

Should we consider raising the maximum price for Teenycom?

11:02PM - Where to buy foam in Canada

Hi.

I have seen tons of posts about buying your foam at Joann's. The only problem is, I live in Canada and if we do have them here, there are none close to me.

I have everything to make my suit, but the foam.

In my city I have a fabircland, Michaels and Wal Mart. Fabricland has some upholstery foam, but they only sell 1". I bought some to make feet paws, and it's not very good. It doesn't carve easily, and I have to glue the pieces together to get the size I need.

Where can I get foam? I don't care if I have to order it online.

Thanks.
